Notes:

Despite his evil-sounding name, Postumus was a strongly good character, a cleric of Eru. His name came from his father, a high priest of the evil Rat God in Balimar. This background gave Postumus his pessimistic personality, and was the most well-developed background of any character in the campaign.

Postumus was brought up to worship the Rat God, but rebelled against these teachings and sought Good instead. He succeeded, but not before watching the love of his life devoured by hungry rodents. He carried a hatred and loathing of rats and the Rat Cult, and the occasions on which he crossed weapons with them were always fraught with emotion.

Postumus's gloomy and serious demeanor was an irrestible target for those merry pranksters Bodo and Mentiri, and they were not above placing the occasional dead rat in his path. Postumus endured this as he endured everything else, except for the time they tricked him into thinking he had eaten a rat. He went more than a little nuts, and Bodo and Mentiri repented their teasing - for awhile, at least.

Postumus was captured by the lich Illarog during the Illarog adventure. Illarog returned a simalucrum to the group, who believed he was the real Postumus. When the actual Postumus turned up the truth was revealed and the duplicate, now named Xerox Mal, left to dwell with Scaevola and perhaps establish his own identity. The final twist to this episode occured when the real Postumus found that Illarog had had him infected with lycanthropy; Postumus was now a were-lobster. The major effects of this curse have been that Postumus doesn't dare get too far from water, and that melted butter now makes him nervous.

Pete has written the background story for Postumus. It is a very well-done, very moving tale, which you can read here.
