Tilelva

Goddess of Lakes, Rivers, and Streams
Lesser Deity
Alignment: N
Plane: Concordant Opposition

Symbol: Two wavy lines bisected by a spear

Appearance: Tilelva appears as a beautiful, not-quite human creature, something like a nereid or an aquatic elf. Her garments are blue silks draped diaphanously about her slim, lovely body. Her golden hair is worn to one side in a long braid. Around her head she wears a simple golden filet shaped like rippling water. She wields a + 5 spear, named Lolmandl, which she uses as necessary to maintain the balance and integrity of her realm.

Attributes: As the goddess of all freshwater lakes, rivers, and streams, Tilelva seeks to protect these bodies of water from pollution and drought. She is a friend to those who use these waters in harmony with their nature, but is a fierce enemy when dams are built or pollution or other dangers threaten them. Generally, she is a friendly and even-tempered deity, recognizing that her waters provide food, water, energy, and transportation. She is an active god who uses the guises of fish and other creatures to watch over her charges. Many legends and stories of her can be found among fisherfolk and those who dwell alongside rivers and lakes. Though Tilelva is not as capricious or destructive as Ussiska (with whom she generally gets along), it is a good idea to seek her blessing before venturing or building on her waters.

Each body of water of any significant size has its own guardian spirit to see that Tilelva's will is maintained.
