Appearance: Vrax takes on many physical forms, depending on the circumstances. Most commonly he appears as a wizended old man leaning on a staff, wearing robes of blacks and grays. He appears more benign than he is (which is not benign at all!) to delude mortals into thinking that there is nothing bad about being evil. His forte is the subtle seduction of intelligent creatures to the cause of Evil. When it suits his purpose better he will also appear as a handsome, well-built man in his mid-to-late 30s, impeccably garbed, with a persuasive voice and manner. He will also on occasion visit the Prime Material as an unusually large and bedraggled raven which can cause a sense of doom and forboding by its very presence. In this incarnation he sows the seeds of fear and doubt, emotions which are fertile ground for his seductions. In any humanoid form he carries the Staff of Evil. His fortress/palace is a huge, labyrinthine structure that dominates the Nine Hells.

Attributes: Vrax is the nominal chief of all evil deities and always seeks to promote the cause of Evil. He is, however, more subtle than his fellow evil gods and goddesses. He takes a broad, impersonal view of evil for its own sake; he looks for ways to convert good into evil, taking the long view toward the day when Evil completely subjugates Good. Vrax is not an angry or petty god. He uses each tool to its maximum effectiveness, and is not usually hasty or wasteful. He is always, however, on the lookout for unhealthy trends involving love, mercy, and compassion.

The only thing that makes him passionately angry is Eru and his horribly good influence on the Prime Material. Eru is his nemisis, and he must be destroyed before Evil can totally prevail.

Mortal Followers: Any evil, especially LE.

Weapons: Standard clerical - all clerics carry a black staff in honor of Vrax.

Special Abilities:

  1. Combat bonus with quarterstaff of +1 to hit for every 4 levels gained.
  2. Can detect good once per day per level beginning at 1st level.
  3. Can use the suggestion spell once per day in addition to normal spell compliment, beginning at 5th level.
  4. Can transform into a raven once per day, beginning at 9th level.
